We are focusing on Virtual Field Day for Specials this Week!
Please follow the links provided for some fun and exciting events that will be used for this years Field Day. Thanks to OPEN Phys Ed’s resources we can still have a fun way to wrap up the year the best way circumstances will allow. Most of the items should be things that you have around your house. You are welcome to do some or all of the events. You are welcome to use the events as a family competition. The National Field Day takes place on May 8 but you are welcome to practice these events between now and then or fit them into your schedule for whenever it works. I hope the kids enjoy and please share pictures or videos with Coach Hardy at [email protected] or feel free to post on the King Springs Elementary Feel the Pride Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/groups/KingSpringsSmyrna/ for others to enjoy. The video directions can be found here: https://openphysed.org/fielddayvideos Please also share the Padlet Code if that is an easier way for uploading pictures and videos. Thanks so much!!! https://padlet.com/davidworrall/cdsr3sre7ankrmvw

What do seeds need to grow? Let's experiment this week! Click below for the lesson.
Hello First Grade Friends! If you find yourself with extra time, please check out the file below. It has a standard specific activity for you to try. I can't wait to see the plants you create!
S1L1. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information about the basic needs of plants and animals. a. Develop models to identify the parts of a plant—root, stem, leaf, and flower. Find a plant inside or outside and see if you can identify all the parts. Can you find the root, stem, leaf, and flower? It's also the perfect time to do some planting. Dig out that packet of seeds and get your hands dirty (and then wash them well!).
Kindergarten, first, and second grade students did a fantastic job with their science fair projects!
Students engineered a table that would hold all of the yummy Thanksgiving food. Lots of critical thinking happening with this STEM challenge!
We've started learning all about magnets! Is there anything more fun than exploring with magnets?!?!
We continued reviewing our 4C skills by building straw towers. Lots of critical thinking and creativity with this task!
